FOR THE SAKE OF PARTY COHESION, I STEP ASIDE I was near to tears - TopicsExpress

FOR THE SAKE OF PARTY COHESION, I STEP ASIDE I was near to tears when I got a call from my friend and big brother, Hon. Odera Onwudiwe, who is the leader of the Ideato North legislative council and till yesterday a frontrunner to represent Ideato North State Constituency at the Imo State House of Assembly. Odera, who is a darling of Ideato youths, fave of the women folk and a trusted ally of the elders stood the clearest chance of clinching the ticket of the PDP in the primaries that will be holding later today. There is hardly any statutory or adhoc delegate within the Party that does not have a soft spot for him, due to his loyalty to the Party and track record of service to the people of Ideato. However, Odera is not a desperate politician. He told me that he will be stepping aside from the race, because some apex leaders of the Party in our LGA feel that it will be right to cede the House of Assembly seat to another ward outside the Akwu/ Owerre Akokwa ward where incidentally the incumbent House of Assembly member representing our constituency hails from. He knows that if he fights, he will succeed in getting the ticket, but he considers the Party interest paramount. He is also not the type of politician who will want to stand against the fair and justifiable decision of Party leaders. I fully appreciate this uncommon sacrifice from Hon. Odera and commend other Party members and politicians to learn from this rare display of sportsmanship, Party loyalty and fairness. THERE IS HOPE FOR NIGERIA!
