FOREST HILL TO HOLD DEDICATION and GRAND OPENING FOR NEW CIVIC & CONVENTION CENTER FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE [Forest Hill, TX-August 14, 2013] The City of Forest Hill will host a Dedication and Grand Opening Ceremony for its new Civic & Convention Center on Saturday, September 21st from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. The 33,000 square foot facility, located at 6901 Wichita Street contains a Main Hall and seven meeting rooms. The Main Hall is the largest room and will seat 850 people in a theater –style setting. The smallest room will hold fifty people. From conventions to corporate meetings, weddings, family reunion celebrations and birthday parties, this facility will be ready to host them all as well as a host of other functions and activities. The Forest Hill Civic and Convention Center building was purchased in August, 2012 and since that time has undergone major renovations to both the inside and outside of the structure. A Committee comprised of eight citizen volunteers and staff members, led by Mayor Pro Tem Ozell Birks as its Chairman, have met consistently since last October making recommendations to the City Council on the various elements of the construction remodeling. “To say that we are excited about opening our new Forest Hill Civic and Convention Center would be an understatement,” said Mayor Gerald Joubert. “We recently dedicated our Memorial Park for Veterans and Public Safety officers and we are now readying ourselves for the next chapter of significant development in Forest Hill,” he added. In addition to the meeting rooms, the Forest Hill Civic and Convention Center will offer a prep kitchen, audio/visual capabilities in all rooms, and, in the near future, a new home for the Senior Citizen Center, a sporting arena capable of hosting basketball and volleyball competitions and a workout facility. “Our Committee has been diligent in the planning process – I can’t thank them enough for their hard work and tenacity,” said Committee Chair Ozell Birks. “This center and all that is has to offer will benefit our citizens, our businesses and once again put Forest Hill on the map of notoriety.” For more information about the Dedication and Grand Opening celebration, call 817-806-4701.
