FOSTER OR ADOPTER NEEDED for our new girl, Sammie! Sammie is new to Labrador Rescuers as of 7/5/14. She is 8-years-old and just a sweetheart. She came to us because her owner was not able to give her the attention she needs for her energy level. Her owner adopted her off Craig’s List approximately 10 months ago, and thought a 7-year-old Lab would be a good fit for her. Sammie is a puller, and strong, so the owner was not able to walk her on her own comfortably. She came to the conclusion that Sammie needed a home where someone could provide her with what she needs. Here’s what Sammie’s human sister had to say about her: ”Sammie is a large dog who needs space to run. She loves to play fetch and has a very sweet disposition. She is great with kids and other dogs, but she needs someone who can handle a strong dog. She is the type of dog who craves a lot of attention and pets from humans. Her previous owner passed away and my mom took her thinking we could train her. Ultimately, she is just too big of a dog for my mother to handle. She is a beautiful purebred and will make someone very happy in the future.” Sammie was evaluated at the dog park and did great with males and females, and small dogs too. She flew like the wind, racing up and down the hills after her BFF, the ball. You would never guess that she is 8-years-old when you see her in action. We are told that she is ball CRAZY and will keep one in her mouth 24/7 if allowed. However, she is not possessive of the ball in any way that we could see. She is supposedly housetrained and trustworthy when left alone.
