FOURTEEN CATS RESCUED IN LYTTON BC – UPDATE In March we told you about fourteen cats and kittens that were abandoned in a residence in Lytton. The cats were abandoned by their owner, who moved out of the home he was renting and left them all behind. This left the homeowners with the responsibility of dealing with the cats. A call to the BC SPCA was not returned for weeks. When the SPCA did finally call back, they assured the home owner that help would be on the way shortly. But that help never came. Fortunately for these cats, the homeowners then found AAS’s rescue colleague who asked us if we would pay the vet bills if she got them all to the vet and found homes for them. We assured her that Animal Advocates would pay all vet expenses for all fourteen cats. They were immediately inspected by a local vet and were found to be in pretty good shape – but they all had bad ear mites and all needed to be spayed/neutered. The last of the fourteen abandoned cats were neutered in June 2014. Tato, the calico, is living with a wonderful family. The other cat is too feral to be place in a home so she will be living in a large barn where she wont have to interact with people too much. AAS paid almost $2,000 in vet bills for the fourteen cats.
