FREDERICK ROAD / GATEWAY DRIVE INTERSECTION NEWS! Beginning on Monday morning, October 27th the contractor on the Frederick Road project will be repaving Frederick Road at the intersection Gateway Drive for the installation of a dual left turn lane on both directions to Gateway Drive. The complete construction process is scheduled to last four days. Large paving equipment and numerous dump trucks will be present, but traffic will be able to proceed around the paving operation at the direction of traffic control devices and flaggers. There is likely to be heavy congestion along Frederick Road as well as Gateway Drive areas close to the Frederick Road intersection due to the construction, so alternative routes during this period are advised for motorists who don’t need to be in this area. Once the paving operation is complete temporary striping will be placed to identify the new lanes, and there will be a new lane layout on Frederick Road, so please be aware of these changes. After the paving, City of Opelika crews will be onsite to install the additional traffic signals and traffic signal devices. These obstructions will be less intrusive, but caution is requested when these crews are on site, too.
