FRIDAY, 4TH OCT 2013 IT IS GIVEN UNTO YOU! “And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.” (Matt 13:10-11) After several observations of the ministry and style of the Lord Jesus, one day the disciples summoned up courage to ask Him why He always taught the people in parables. They said master, why is it that you always speak to the people in parables that are difficult to understand? Why don’t you just tell them the matter plainly? They inquired. In response, the Lord said “Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.” Do you know what this means? The word “given” that the Lord used here means to grant, bestow or offer. So what He was telling the disciples is that the reason he spoke to the people in parables was because it wasn’t granted them to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven. Oh, you have to understand this. A man cannot know beyond that which he is granted to know. The reason you know the things you know in the scriptures is not necessarily because you study but because it was granted you to know. After all, there are several others who have studied the same portions of scripture and made no sense out of it. This brings to mind the words of Paul the apostle when he said: “For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?” (1 Cor 4:7) It has been given you to know the things pertaining to the kingdom of God. The deep truths of the kingdom have been graciously granted you and having received these revelations of the kingdom of God, it behooves you to endeavor to put it to work and produce the results that it talks about. The mandate has fallen upon you to engage the ministry of these revelations and shine the light to the ends of the earth. Like we sing “Let the world see heaven in your eyes, show them the kind of love that they can’t deny” as you hold forth the word of God in your life.
