The Freedom Party® NYC presents our Native Tongues Tribute Party featuring a live performance by GRAND PUBA of Brand Nubian!!!!!!!!!! The Native Tongues crew is undoubtedly the most beloved rap crew in the history of hip-hop. This legendary collection of artists includes A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Black Sheep, Jungle Brothers, Chi Ali, Queen Latifah, Monie Love and honorary members such as Mos Def, Da Bush Babies, Pharcyde, Brand Nubians and Leaders of the New School. On Friday, November 7th, well host two floors full of Native Tongues-and-friends music all night long. On the main floor, well have DJs Cosi, Herbert Holler and Marc Smooth spinning everything Native Tongues along with artists that they influenced. Well also have a live performance by Grand Puba of Brand Nubians, and hell be joined by some of his friends who you are bound to know! In the basement, well have DJ Todd Jones playing all Native-Tongue music videos along with a live performance by The MarXman, an incredible MC dedicated to uplifting artistic culture. Performing for over 13 years, his lyricism is only matched by his intensity on stage. His most recent album, Days of Future Past pays homage to the Golden Era of hip hop while offering a sound slightly ahead of our current time. and Sidewalk Chalk, an amazing eight piece band from Chicago that infuses hip-hop, jazz and soul, a Native-Tongues feeling sound thats definitely missing in todays rap landscape. Fresh off of their Afro-Punk performance in August 2014, they are eager to get to the NYC on November 7th to perform some Native-Tongue covers along with their own original music.
