FROM KATHY S. HOWELL: Hey everyone!!! It is that time of year again. Time to start alumni band. Weve had some slight changes since last year. As of right now, I have all the alumni band stuff in my possession and Gwynne Marie Messenger has agreed to help me out. We are hoping to get letter out to everyone soon, but if not, we will at least get it submitted to the newspaper. Per conversations with Sherri Eimer and Dorthea Cunningham, we have enlisted some help from Julia Wayne for this years performance. It is no longer going to be an us vs. them kind of thing. The goal is for we alumni to come together to play music/twirl batons or flags because we love music and we love to play, not because of who the high school band director was or is. For this year, we are sticking with the same music as last year, but will look into incorporating other songs from the schools extensive band history, changing out the song each year. If you are interested in helping with the alumni band, please inbox me. As I said, as of right now, it is Gwynne and myself and as most of you know, I have a TON of other things going on. We will not have to worry about cancelling practices due to weather as Julia has already told me that we can practice in the high school on rainy days. Please let me know as soon as possible if you will doing alumni band so that we can determine what we will or will not be able to do. Please share this with every band member that you know. Practices will be on Sundays at 4:00 pm and on Tuesdays at 7:00 pm, with the first practice being on Sunday, August 17. We understand that not everyone can make all the practices but please try your best to be there. The week of the alumni game there will most likely be 3 practices and we REALLY NEED everyone to be at those practices. Thanks.
