FROM THE NEWSROOM: At approximately 1:49 AM this morning officers from the Plainfield Police Department conducted a motor vehicle stop of a 1996 Chevrolet Lumina on Putnam Road in the Wauregan section of Plainfield, which led to the retrieval of stolen property. The operator of the vehicle was identified as 22-year-old Joshua Thuotte and 21-year-old Charles C. Lonchiadis Jr. was the passenger in that vehicle. While investigating the incident, officers say they could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Lonchiadis was arrested for Possession of Synthetic Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana Less Than 4 Ounces, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and was released on a $500. non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear at the Danielson Superior Court on July 15th. Further investigation revealed a large quantity of jewelry and a laptop computer in the vehicle. The Connecticut State Police were contacted in regards to any prior theft incidents and troopers from Troop D in Danielson responded. The laptop and jewelry was positively identified as being stolen from residences in Thompson, leading State Police to arrest Thuotte and seize the stolen property for their investigation.
