FROM THE NEWSROOM: HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Foley is renewing his call for a truce with Democratic Gov. Dannel P. Malloy as a new Quinnipiac University Poll reveals the Connecticut governors race is a dead heat. The survey of 1,085 likely voters, released Wednesday, indicates Foley no longer leads Malloy. When asked whom they support, 43 percent said Malloy, 43 percent said Foley and 9 percent said petitioning candidate Joe Visconti. A Sept. 10 Quinnipiac Poll gave Foley a six-percentage point lead over Malloy. Foleys campaign on Wednesday launched an online petition to urge Malloy to agree to a truce against negative against false attacks. Poll Director Douglas Schwartz said Foleys favorability among voters has taken a hit. The poll has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus three percentage points.
