FROM THE NEWSROOM: In Pomfret, the purchase of the 614 Mashamoquet Road property that abuts the town garage was approved at the recent Annual Town Meeting in Pomfret -- with First Selectman Maureen Nicholson saying that the acquisition of what is commonly referred to as the “Platt Property” will be an advantage to the town in the future. The $80,000 expenditure came from the Land Acquisition Fund and brought forth some concern from the residents before it was passed, something Nicholson said is not uncommon with land purchases. The Platt Property fits nicely into the Green Belt scheme of things, says the First Selectman, who adds it will be helpful in the long term to have a buffer for the town garage.
