FROM THE NEWSROOM: The Northeastern Connecticut Council of Governments (NECCOG) is working to establish a comprehensive economic development study. According to NECCOG Executive Director John Filchak, a comprehensive study is a prerequisite for the newly re-configured region to receive federal funding. However, as part of that study, Filchak said there first needs to be a group put together composed primarily of individuals working in the private sector, such as business owners. Unfortunately, Filchak says, thats proven to be a challenge so far; Filchak said so far NECCOG has had no problem attracting public sector workers to join the group, but private sector individuals have not been as easy of a pitch. Filchak said only a 51% composition of private sector workers is necessary to meet federal requirements. Tune in for the full report.
