FROM THE NEWSROOM: (UPDATE) A Dayville man faces arraignment in Danielson Superior Court today on the charges of second degree manslaughter with a firearm and reckless endangerment after the death of a 16-year-old boy in Dayville last night. As reported, 21-year-old Kyle Carney, of Kenneth Drive in Dayville, was arrested shortly before midnight last night. In a news release, Lt. Paul Vance of the Conn. State Police said Carney allegedly “recklessly pointed a firearm in the direction of the victim when the rifle discharged, striking the victim in the face.” Vance said that Troop D and QV Dispatch received 9-1-1 calls from a private home located at 84 Kenneth Drive in Dayville. The caller requested an ambulance for a 16-year-old male victim who has sustained an accidental gunshot wound. Vance said troopers located an unresponsive male in an upstairs bedroom. The victim was transported by ambulance to Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam where the unnamed victim was pronounced deceased A post-mortem exam has been scheduled for today by The Office of Chief Medical Examiner The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of family, according to police. Carney has been held on a $500,000 bond, pending arraignment today.
