FROM THE NEWSROOM: While no official starting point has been decided yet, the Brooklyn Housing Authority continued to discuss the potential of an authority-owned Tiffany Street property at a recent meeting, and addressed possible financial options for renovating the buildings at the site going forward. The two building, 27-unit property has been unoccupied for three years, and it is the hope of the Authority to repair and reopen the property for residential use. President of Eastern Connecticut Housing Opportunities Peter Battles spoke on the historic nature of the property, and its eligibility for specific state credits. Currently, the Authority has nearly completed its structural plans for the property. Once those are finished, the total cost of the multimillion dollar project can be determined. The Authority is expecting a response from the state by the end of September, and if everything goes through, it is possible that work can begin in 2015. Tune in for the full report.
