FULL ARTICLE... ______________________________________________________ It was 1st of January 2015 here in Hanuabada village [big village] in Motu Kotai LLG in National Capital District. And people of various walks of life were well and truly into welcoming 2015 in their own way. And a Goilala settlement named “Country side” were also well and truly getting into the mood of cerebration. In this country side settlement, the prime suspect in this whole saga – Ivan Kulolo – was residing. And was obviously involved in the cerebration. Around mid morning a bunch of settlers over the hills in Tokarara’s June valley walked over the hills on their way to Hanuabada to get some ingridients to spice up their festive cerebrations. They met Ivan Kulolo on their way toward Hanubada. Ivan decide to attack them. One of them was stabbed in the neck area and this person fought his way out and ran for his life. Everyone that came fled for their lives. According to the background information from sources, Ivan Kulolo was mad over some misunderstanding and argument from the previous night – 31 December 2014. And according to eye witnesses in Badihagwa, Ivan had promised to cause trouble and the community would be affected. From various sources, Ivan’s victim was rushed to the hospital and got treated and released. By 3pm in the afternoon of 1 January 2015, hundreds of youths [not from one particular ethnic group. mixed mob attack] from Tokara’s June valley settlement converged onto Country side settled and attacked anything in their path and everything they saw and touched. All 5 houses burnt down, a huge domesticated pig slaughtered, an elderly man Aita Suki, chopped into without mercy, who died on the spot. Late Aita Suki’s son Kile Aita had his left hand chopped off, Kilei’s wife Utama had her both hands sliced, and their daughter Clare Kile had her back stabbed. All these victims are now admitted in Port Moresby’s General Hospital. Goilalas and fellow Badihagwa residents retaliated and chased the June Valley youths back over the hills but did not hurt anyone. Police intervened and took control of the situation. And as of this morning Ivan Kulolo and his immediate families are on the run. Police and community leaders from Badihagwa has gone out on a man hunt for this criminal with a warning that should Ivan escape, his Mum or anyone related to him will be arrested and locked up until Ivan surrenders. Community Leaders in June Valley has come to an agreement and will assist with funeral arrangement for late Aita Suki while waiting for the arrest of Ivan. So far 4 suspects for the murder of Aita Suki has been arrested. After Ivan is arrested, June Valley leaders has agreed to then discuss the compensation option. With Ivan still on the run, negotiations stands still.
