FUNDRAISING FOR ACCESS & EDUCATION PROGRAMS (goal $200): I - TopicsExpress

FUNDRAISING FOR ACCESS & EDUCATION PROGRAMS (goal $200): I have not told many people this but everyday in the last 8 months has been like learning to BE all over again. It is so difficult to explain what that really means when I am such a resilient person that is seeming always ABLE. PTSD is a disability that silently dominates your life and no one knows unless you tell the story. I am participating in Third Root Education Exchanges (TREE) fundraising event Quizzo because Third Root was the place to ground me as a home away from home in NY. Coming from the Bay Area, needing a base to maintain recovery and healing work I was able to find affordable acupuncture at Third Root. Then they HIRED ME me to gradually take one a day at a time to re-acclimate myself in to a daily routine and find an even pace back in to everyday life after being suddenly taken from it by the Gun Violence trauma. I have literally started from not being able to feed myself to this day when it is more psychological and emotional. Things like knowing you can be as awesome as you used to be can be an every day challenge. Can I still run programs and organizations, can i still be that pillar in community, can I still be a teacher and an educator. When is the next time I will be triggered in a public setting and how will it impact my interaction with that environment in the future? this is just a little bit of what I have overcome in the last few months while working at Third Root. Please consider what you could give-$5, $25, $100, it will all nourish this space that has meant so much to me. This year the fundraising amount is set at $200/person. It supports the further development of the organization providing space and resources for diverse community to share knowledge and access learning about their health and healing, contributing to a culture of complete wellness. firstgiving/fundraiser/AnyanwuUwa/quizzo-2014
