FYI - message from Massport: WHAT: Multi Agency Response Exercise (simulated aircraft crash) WHERE: Boston Harbor – 1 mile from 33L runway end WHEN: Sunday May 4th from 0400-0900 WHO: 30 public and private agencies including Massport, City of Boston, Coast Guard. MEMA, FBI, NTSB, FAA, CBP, Boston Harbor Cruise Lines, OCME, Boston Medical Center, etc… As a component of the Urban Shield Exercise in Boston, Operation Ready will simulate the crash of an international flight A320 with 100 survivors. The response exercise will help us evaluate notification and communications, on scene command and control of 35 boats and one helicopter, establishing a casualty collection area (Logan Water Shuttle Dock) and a unified command workshop in the terminal on the dock. A small barge will be set anchored in the harbor on Sat, May 3rd. Boston Harbor Cruise Line boat with the barge will serve as the aircraft prop and will move into position by 0500. The ex will begin at 0500. No impacts to Hyatt or taxi pool. Extensive safety plan in place for casualty volunteers from Red Cross, area EMT programs, Northeastern, etc… Residents may see emergency and on scene lighting (boats and MSP helicopter) in the middle of the harbor. All land based emergency vehicles and equipment will be pre staged. So, no emergency response on roadways.
