Fabiano Caruana has entered the 2800 club and is now World #3 in the FIDE top 100 rating list for August 2014. Beyond Fabiano, six more players from the all-time-best 100 players list has improved their Elo record: Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Wesley So, Liren Ding, Radoslaw Wojtaszek, Yuriy Kryvoruchko and Richard Rapport. Another significant event this month is that Hou Yifan has became the second female in history to enter the ranklist of the Top 100 chess players, taking 87th place with Elo rating 2661. She is just 15 Elo points behind legendary Judith Polgar, the only other female chess player in Top 100. Finally, a player from a new federation has appeared, welcome to Burkina Faso. More statistics: * 23658 had their rating updated (just about the same as the 23585 updates the month before that) * 4420 players were added, while 33 were deleted * 114 players had title update (double the 55 the month before that) * 10 players had their federation changed chess-db/public/topten.jsp
