Facing Lifes Storms with Peace Mark 4:38-40 NLT Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. The disciples woke him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?” When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm. Then he asked them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?” Yesterday was one of those days. In this scripture, the disciples are having one of those days. That had just great success in three days of ministry, where over 5,000 souls were fed-both physically and spiritually. Now they are embarking on a new journey and come across a great storm. And where once their faith was strong, the faith is now wavering and begin to cry out to Jesus. (And we will have times when our faith may waiver)The good thing is Jesus was in the boat with them from the beginning. But instead of hollering and crying about the storm, He is found resting-asleep. He is trying to teach the disciples an important lesson of learning how to rest in Gods presence, power and provision in the midst of storms. Jesus then speaks to the storm and brings peace to the waters. When we learn how to rest in the presence of Savior, we dont have to fear lifes storms. We can face them knowing God is present and that Hewill bring us safely through them and usher us into a place of peace and blessing. Have a good weekend.
