Faithfood for the Faithful June 7, 2013 Sacred Heart of Jesus Readings: Ezekiel 34:11-16; Psalm 23:1-6; Romans 5:5-11 Luke 15:3-7 Insights: JESUS’ HEART Sis. Kaye Ella, SOWER From the readings today, we can say that God’s love is... 1. Forgiving and Patient – Lambs are short-sighted. Sin, in Latin, is “peccatum,” which means, “short-sightedness.” Instead of getting impatient, the Good Shepherd patiently guards the lambs. When they get lost because of their short-sightedness, He will patiently find them and “forgive” them for not “following” Him. 2. Individualistic – the Good Shepherd knows each of His lambs. He knows when and who is missing. Unlike hired shepherds who work only for mere pay, He will persistently look for His lost lamb, and won’t stop until He finds it and brings it back because He cares for it. 3. Sacrificial and Unconditional – A good shepherd will lay down his life to guard, feed, and protect his lambs. He ensures that they have everything they need and gives them what is best. Jesus is the Good Shepherd (Jn. 10:11, 14-15) and we are His lambs. As His lambs, may we learn to trust His love for us. May it draw us closer to His Most Sacred Heart, which is full of love, hope, strength, peace and joy. May we also learn to KNOW His voice, so we can easily follow Him. Prayer: Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us. Hand of the Sower Catholic Community Salt of the World Evangelistic Resource Mt. 13:37 “...the man who sowed the good seed is the Son of Man."
