Fall 1979... 8th grade year at St. Leo the Great... Had done the HS open houses at Brother Martin, Jesuit and, of course, St. Aug. Took the parochial school test. Got a letter from St. John Prep, aka the seminary school. Do u wanna be a priest? Strange things afoot: there is talk of taking a test to go to a public school... a magnet school... Fast fwd to cool, crisp January morning, taking test at JFK High... Some weeks later, a letter arrives: You have been accepted... At that very moment, everything I thought I knew about my life at 13 suddenly changed... Questions, yes, and after the preliminary orientation in that rickety old Carrollton Courthouse they called a school building, I was convinced this was a bad move... pretigious though it was, what was this place and who were these people? Fast fwd May 1984: BFHS graduation... I cannot imagine my life not having passed thru those hallowed halls... 30 years later, basking in the sweet camaraderie of mr classmates and the memories of those not present but there in spirit, I cannot imagine my life without BFHS... Go Falcons! Class of 84!
