Fall River Sam’s Club Hosts Basketball Legend Cedric “Cornbread” Maxwell 1981 NBA Finals MVP to sign free autographs on Oct. 24 Fall River, MA (October 10, 2013) – Sam’s Club and General Mills have announced that they will host a Member Appreciation event at the new Fall River Sam’s Club on Thursday, Oct 24, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. As part of the day’s celebration, Boston Celtic’s Legendary Power Forward Cedric “Cornbread” Maxwell will meet with fans and sign free autographs at the Fall River Sam’s Club (941 Grinnell St., Fall River). Maxwell played power forward on the dominate Boston Celtics of the 1980s. Named the Most Valuable Player of the 1981 NBA Finals, he won a second NBA title with the Celtics in 1984. Maxwell enjoyed an 11-year NBA career, eight of which were spent wearing Celtics green and white. The team retired his jersey number “31” in 2003. Currently, Maxwell is the radio voice of the Celtics. “We encourage fans to join us for a fun and exciting day,” said Rachel Dufault, Club manager of the Fall River location. “This event is our way of thanking the community for their patronage of our numerous clubs in the area. We are excited and look forward to seeing all the smiling faces of Fall River and surrounding communities, as we welcome Celtics’ legend Cedric Maxwell to our new location.” Sam’s Club will officially open its newest location in Fall River on Thursday, Oct. 24. Autographs are limited to one per person and are only guaranteed for the first 120 people in line, but he will sign more if time allows.
