Fall is a Great Time to Vacation Some think of fall as the most - TopicsExpress

Fall is a Great Time to Vacation Some think of fall as the most unfortunate of seasons: summer’s fun has passed, the excitement of the holidays is in the future and nature is preparing for winter. However, smart travelers know that fall may be the best season to vacation. If you don’t have school-age children whose schedules require you to be at home, consider the unmistakable advantages of vacationing in the fall: The crowds of summer have dissipated. Kids and college students are back in school, and the crowds that throng popular destinations around the globe have thinned dramatically. You’ll have a shorter wait to see the Tower of London, the Eiffel Tower, the Vatican Museums or the observation deck of the Empire State Building, to name a few of the world’s most popular attractions. Another advantage is that the high prices of summer have diminished, too. Summer is high season for travel, with inflated prices for everything from airline tickets to hotel rooms, and cruise fares to restaurant meals. These prices tend to come down in fall. In fact, your travel professional can help you find some terrific fall travel discounts. Fortunately, fall travel also means that lots of great vacation spots still have warm, pleasant weather. The beaches of the Caribbean, the Greek Isles and the amusement parks of Florida are not only less crowded, they are past their summer peak temperatures. It will still be warm enough to swim, sunbathe and enjoy outdoor pursuits like hiking, golf and tennis (don’t forget your sunscreen, though, you can still get sunburn in the fall). If a fall vacation sounds great but you don’t have much time or need to stay closer to home, think about taking a color tour. From September through November, a wave of color washes over the woodlands of Canada and the U.S. Some of the finest leaf-peeping is available in New England and along Canada’s Atlantic coast. Hop on a cruise ship to see the changing colors reflected in the water, or take a driving tour and stop at a different bed-and-breakfast inn each night. There are some other events specific to fall that you can build a vacation around: perhaps NFL football, or Octoberfest in Munich? For more ideas, give us a call!
