Family, in the Gambia this morning I called on the Ancestors to allow me to give the greatest presentation that I have ever given. They must have heard me. If it was not the greatest presentation I have ever given it was certainly right up there. I was the first speaker at the Roots International Festival Symposium in the Gambia, and I smoked em! I dont often brag about my presentations but on this day I was that good. I have now done presentations in 58 countries and I had been waiting to do this since I arrived here on Friday. It was not a perfect presentation but I dont recall ever feeling so confident and relaxed in front of such a large international gathering. Sizzla Kilongi and Mutabaruka were right in the first row in front of me and Dr. Julius Garvey, who I now consider a good friend, spoke right after me. It was just that kind of morning sisters and brothers. Thank you Ancestors. At this point in my life, as arrogant as it might sound, my confidence level is so high when it comes to African history presentations, that I feel that I could impress Marcus Garvey, Kwame Nkrumah and Malcolm X. Family, I think right now I am going to go to the beach here for the first time since I have been here and give thanks and pour libations to the spirits of all of those Africans so brutally taken away from home so long ago Ase!
