Farah here... Happy Tuesday! It already feels warmer out with temperatures and wind chill values warming up by a few degrees. But the big warm up comes tomorrow. Warm air continues to invade from the west bringing above normal temperatures to much of the Prairies. Where strong, westerly winds develop, warmer temperatures will be possible. Today high temps for Saskatoon and Regina -6ºC and -7ºC. Tomorrow forecast models show temperatures to be on the plus side. In Saskatoon +2ºC and +1ºC in Regina. In areas where precipitation exist like, in central and northern Alberta there is a concern for freezing rain. Warnings have been issued for these areas in Alberta. These may be expanded east to include parts of Saskatchewan tonight as it become more evident where the zero line will be placed. Overnight there is approximately 5 cm of snow expected for Prince Albert and northern sections. There is a slight risk for patching freezing rain through central Saskatchewan Wednesday morning. This is a very slight risk. Nonetheless, we must discuss the disadvantages associated with temperatures warming to above freezing. Some melting and freezing overnight is obvious, lending to slippery surfaces. Take caution driving and walking on icy surfaces the next few days. Daytime highs are expected to remain above normal into the middle of next week for much of Saskatchewan.
