FarmBook Friday: Lane Farms. For today’s Farmbook Friday feature, we introduce Veronica Reyes of Lane Farms. The Lane Family has been farming since 1868 and Veronica began farming as a girl with her grandfather in Mexico. Lane practices organic and pesticide-free farming methods, making their own compost from the leftovers of harvested crops. They also utilize ladybugs for pest control. They employ four full-time field crew and seven farm stand workers. Produce Grown: • Strawberries • Corn • Lettuce • Broccoli • Tomatoes • Zucchini • Pumpkins • Much more! Veronica Reyes Talks about Farming Best farming memory: I remember planting corn by hand as a little girl with my grandpa because we did not have equipment to do it. It was rewarding to eat something you planted yourself. Favorite thing about farming: Looking at the fields in the morning is relaxing. I also enjoy knowing customers on a personal level and being able educate them about the food they are taking home to their tables. Interesting Fact: Local elementary schools come to the pumpkin patch each year to learn about the different squashes.
