Fascinating. I never knew greenhouse farming was practiced on such a wide scale. A quick visit in Google Earth reveals tens of square miles of territory are almost totally covered in polyurethane sheets. From space, the land looks white. Some climate scientists have speculated that increasing the Earths albedo by 1-2% would be enough to counteract the greenhouse effect and halt global warming (see Steven Chus paint your roof white proposal). Geo-engineering is an idea that drives many environmentalists nuts, but this might be one of the most innocuous climate mitigation methods available to us.
