Fatal Accident in the Town of Newfane Issued By: Niagara County Sheriffs Office Burt,NY: On August 5th,2014 Niagara County Dispatch received a call reporting a hit and run accident causing damage to a residence at 6201 Lake Rd. Investigation revealed the vehicle that caused the damage was still on scene after discovering the 2008 Chevrolet passed under the front porch at 6201 Lake and partially exited the rear of the home with the male operator found deceased in the driver side of the vehicle. The operator was identified as Douglas Coleman(49)of Newfane,NY. Evidence indicated the vehicle was traveling Northbound at a high rate of speed on Transit Road, crossed over Lake Road, struck the unoccupied house in the area of the front porch and traveled the width of the home on the East side. Final rest of vehicle was discovered in the back of the home, with the front end protruding through the rear deck area. Driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. No other injuries reported. Further investigation pending from Accident Investigation Unit.
