Father Rocky: August 9. Today we remember St. Theresa Benedicta of the Cross, aka Edith Stein. Here she is as a sweet and innocent child. Raised in an observant Jewish family, this brilliant woman later converted to the Catholic faith and joined the Carmelites as a nun. Author of more than twelve books and articles, her only crime was being a faithful Catholic convert from Judaism. She died in the gas chambers of Auschwitz. If you ever get a chance, read her book "The Science of the Cross."
