Fear. We all fear something. Maybe we fear heights, or spiders, - TopicsExpress

Fear. We all fear something. Maybe we fear heights, or spiders, or meeting new people. These fears can be overcome with help from doctors and therapists, and thats comforting to know. But, there is a deep unspoken fear that settles over us when child loss occurs and that fear seems to engulf us -- grabs our heart, squeezes it and wont let go. We fear, God forbid, that if it can happen once, it can happen again. Our bodies and minds shake at the possibility of child loss happening one time, but the fear of it happening again is paralyzing. This is a fear parents of child loss dont like to talk about because even verbalizing this fear makes it seem more real. Child loss strips us of our innocent belief that bad things happen to bad people. We understand that the unspeakable (child loss) happens to very good, very wonderful people, too. This fear is a life-long battle to overcome. Oh, how much we need to learn to trust again following the loss of a child! Fear is so difficult to overcome following child loss!
