Feb 21 a safe place During the weekend, we found a little hideaway in our work garage. Sending my son out to close the garage up, a dog had gone into the tire shop area and climbed into one of the shelves. He, like I said, was just a little guy, and was so scared. No matter what coaxing we did, he refused to come near us. As we would walk closer to him, his little body would shake and he would emit a small growl. We decided to keep him closed up so that he could be safe. Monday , I walked back there several times, talking soothingly to him and giving him little treats. As soon as he took them, though, he retreated back to a safe distance. It was very obvious this dog had been abused somewhere by someone to have such terror over a human. The door was opened monday evening for him to go out if he wanted, and use the bathroom, but unfortunately, the small dog ran off. We live right next to a busy road and half of a mile to an interstate. I called for him, but he continued to run, dodging cars, barely being missed. It seemed he had made it, but to where? As we drove home the next day, we found his little body by the interstate. It seemed, no matter what we did, or love we tried to show him, his fear took over and brought him death. This story, which is so sad, brought me to mind about life with God. This world brings so much pain, fear, and death, just like what this little dog experienced. Do we, like this little dog, run with fear from the unknown? As I did with the dog, isnt God that way and much more with us. Lovingly coaxing and encouraging us to stay on the right path. But, at times, no matter what He does, we still run away from Him, We run away from truth, because we dont want to hear it. We dont want to change our ways, our lives...we have a fear, also, of being different. Going against the grain. Going against what the crowd, society, says. Because of this, we, like this dog, can run to our death. As I drove by his little body, I felt sadness and wishing I had just kept him locked up,safe. I gave him a choice, to stay or go. Unfortunately, he chose to go. Doesnt God also give us a choice? We have a decision to make...to stay in the safety of our Fathers arms, or to go out into the world where death and no hope for eternity most definitely awaits us. This life is just temporary, so who cares what others may think? There is only ONE person that matters the most. God. Jesus came and said to them,All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age. Matthew 28:18-20 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1
