February 2: Presentation of our Lord in the Temple. This festival marks the close of the Christmas cycle, coming 40 days after the Nativity. The liturgical colour is white. According to the law, Jesus is presented in the Temple by his parents, for this is a Jewish family. The Gospel for the day is Luke 2:22-40. He is born under the law to redeem us from the law. At St. Andrew’s we observed this with the blessing of candles and the two candlemakers: Odd Steinar and Parnassus Dixon. Today is the last day that the Moravian Star (herrnhuter sterne) hangs in the narthex.
