February Meeting Notes Feb11th. Highway Engineer David Betts requested the budgeted purchase of a Dozer,Lowboy and Grader. The Grader was 30,000.00 over budget. All approved with Heidi and Bruce Appleseed to the Grader purchase. Special event permit approved for Mush for a Cure. Request to Bid Gunflint Trail and Cty 7 sidewalk projects. Betts was asked by the Board to split the projects into 2 bids rather than one. Assistant County Attny Molly Hicken gave an update on the Cty Attny office staffing. Fowl Lake update . Wade Cole from ORB updated us on the Y and requested payment for current bills. The Board approved payment of 75,000.00 from unallocated 1% money to pay bills. The Cook County Tennis Assoc approached the Board requesting 1% money to repair 2 tennis courts. commissioner Gamble is going to work with Dianne Booth to define the Recreational needs and costs for tennis, soccer and softball fields. Then approach the Board with a plan to update and repair. The Board approved the hiring of a new MIS Director, replacing Dana McKenzie. Rena Rogers was hired. February 18th Tim Nelson of Planning and Zoning presented a After the Fact Fee committee report. And information on the 2014 Hazardous Waste Collection Plan. Dates for collection will be July 19th and Sept 27th. Kyle Oberg from GIS asked for permission to apply for a Emergency Trail Marker Grant. Approved. The Grant will help expand the trail marker program from Lake County. If awarded work begins Nov 1. Focusing on North Shore State Trail, Pincushion Trail System and others. Tim Kennedy was appointed to represent the county on the Greater MN Parks and trais Coalition. The Board set the date for Board of Appeal and Equalization. June 17th. Feb 25th I was not present. Please watch the video on our County website for details. Tim Nelson from Planning and Zoning presented the 2014 Solid Waste Management Plan. Bill Lane of Planning and Zoning presented the Board with a request for a 6 month Moratorium on internally lit LED illuminated signs. The Board denied the Resolution. David Betts updated the Board on Kellys Hill. The Board requested an legal opinion from the Assistant County Attorney on road ownership. Mr Betts also received approval for 2 Event Permits. Betty Schultz requested approval of Local Option Disaster Abatement. Approved pending legal review of Assistant County Attorney. A Public Hearing on Gypsy Moth Quarantine was held. A Public Hearing was held for the SCDP Grant to Deed. Sam Muntean on behalf of the Cook County Airport appeared before the Board for approval of an Independent Fee Analysis on the Airport Project. Approved for 4200.00- paid out of the airport budget.
