Federal prosecutors to seek death penalty for accused LAX shooter Paul Ciancia Federal prosecutors announced Friday they will seek the death penalty against a man accused of killing a Transportation Security Administration officer during a shooting rampage at Los Angeles International Airport. The decision was released in documents filed in U.S. District Court in downtown Los Angeles. The decision was left to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, but the affidavit is signed by acting U.S. Attorney Stephanie Yonekura and four other prosecutors from the Los Angeles office. The lead federal public defender handling the case was not immediately available for comment.
