Feeling sympathetic, contemplative and thankful. I spent most of the day at the Bikers for Beth, the annual Beth Hemenway Memorial Ride in memory of Aaron Sayers, and benefiting his wife and sons. Aaron died on April 26th, just thirteen days after his fortieth birthday. Too often we go through life with the foolish perception that we are invincible, that somehow life will go on forever, if not, for a long while from today. We hold grudges, withhold forgiveness; we chase the almighty dollar and prestige... What might happen if we understood the very truth that any breath could be our last? How might we alter our perceptions and more importantly our actions? I’m praying for Aaron and his family. I pray that time will soften their hurt and strengthen their memories. I furthermore pray that for all others that his memory will help serve as a reminder to the fragility and preciousness of life. I am thankful to have shared today with so many special people. Tonight, I am especially thankful to have been able to embrace my family and tell them how much I love them, at least one more time.
