Festival. 1-st edition of Hadra Festival, from 15 to 18 August in Essaouira. The first edition of Meet-Hadra Trance Music Festival of Essaouira will be held from August 15 to 18 under the theme: "Hadra Sufi Women: Identity and openness." Organized by the Association of Haddarates Essaouira and Morocco Deep Association for the protection of heritage, this cultural event aims to highlight the role of popular culture and Sufism in particular the music of trance generally in the national culture. According to a statement from the organizers, it is also to educate, engage and enrich the debate around the role of women in cultural activities to artistic purpose or musico-therapy, highlighting the cultural potential of trance music in Morocco and open fields of reflection on the development of popular Sufism. The program this year include lectures by academics and researchers and musical evenings together renowned artists in the field of trance music and music therapy. (MAP)
