Fighting for Abused Children Caden Demari Williams Age 1 month A man has been charged with murder in the death of his 1 month old son who died of abusive head trauma and other injuries. Officers arrested Ricky Lee Clark Jr. at his home. According to the autopsy report, Caden was in the care of his father when he coughed up blood. The father then changed the babys clothes and put him back to bed. About an hour later, Ricky checked on Caden and found him unresponsive. The babys parent and grandparents then took him to the hospital. Caden had no pulse and CPR was performed. He never responded and was pronounced dead that day, just 16 minutes after arriving at the hospital. Autopsy exam revealed acute subdural hemorrhage suspicious for abusive head trauma, as well as rib fractures, contusions of the thymus and right middle lobe of the lung, and multiple lacerations on the liver. The child was suffering from bleeding between the brain and then thin tissue that covers the brain. In addition, Caden had mild brain swelling and retinal bleeding, as well as a skull fracture, a spinal cord injury and four rib fractures. These injuries were consistent with compressive grasping of the infant by the chest and vigorously shaking and slamming the infant against a relatively soft but nonyieling object. Striking the infant with a hand or fist wouldhave produced smaller injuries.
