.....Fin Fighters UK..... Not sure if we agree on the use of a dead shark this way or whether or not this is exploitative?.......but it is hard not to admit that this is pretty beautiful. (Mainly because the shark is such a beautiful creature anyway) In his new exhibition artist; Gunther von Hagens features the plastinated (replacing soft tissue with plastic and silicon) body of a Blue shark. The plastinating technique has preserved the internal organs, muscles, and vascular systems of the shark leaving them visible - something never really seen this way before due to the arteries in sharks being so thin. The artist hopes that his exhibition will show sharks in a new light - Most people have a picture of a shark as a dangerous beast, but when you look at this specimen you see it has a heart and blood vessels just like me.
