In addition, he had a record-breaking start to the new campaign, scoring 26 goals in 20 games for Los Blancos. Messi, meanwhile, seemed to have fallen down the pecking order after failing to win any silverware this year, but he has made up some ground after beating two all-time records last week. First he broke Telmo Zarra’s 60-year standing La Liga record and then he bettered Raul’s Champions League record. German World Cup champion, Manuel Neuer, completed the list after his fine performances for Bayern Munich and his country in 2014. The 28-year-old won the German double before his outstanding performances earned him the Golden Glove at the World Cup in Brazil.
