Final marathon wrap up. Gonna be a long one. After 8 months, 42 lbs lost, 568 training miles run, 98,400 calories burned, and over 300 encouraging (and some downright hilarious!) texts sent to me during the race, I crossed the finish line in 4:47:19. I had 50 pediatric cancer kids names on my arm and two special wristbands to draw strength from when it got really tough.( and oh my gosh did it ever) I was privileged to do all this while representing a life changing charity team, Cals Angels, that grants wishes for kids fighting cancer and was able to raise over $5,100. I sobbed like a 2 year old. The thank yous are incredibly important so please bear with me here. 1st.. My best friend and Rock.. Heide Seibert Buckman. We entered this journey together and planned to cross together. God had other plans. Everyone who knows us knows you are the real hero and champion. You lived it the entire 8 months and concluded by managing a crowd of friends and family on a bus through millions of people and were right where our team Needed you most right when we needed you most. I love you and am proud of you. To the literally 100s of friends and family that have supported me and my journey in calls, texts, emails, cards, etc... I truly am beside myself with emotion as I cant imagine completing my goal without all of you hitting me seemingly at just the right times over the last 8 months. Thank you thank you thank you! I only hope I am able to return the encouragement and support when each of you needs it. To my teammates who completed the course with me. Mike Miller, Jeff Kim, Joanna Stibgen Meyers Skip Shean. Each of u inspired me in special ways. To my coach Seth Kopf who nursed me through every injury and kept me charging ahead. And finally to my friend and race day coach, Douglas Dibb.. None of the above wouldve ended so successfully without your ruthless pacing and encouragement sunday. You are a rock star and I will never forget what you did for me. In conclusion, this has been a life changing epic experience start to finish. I am happy to share at anytime the good, the bad , the ugly parts of the story if I can be any help on your journey, whatever it may be. Please count me as ready and willing. God bless everyone!! Love Bucky
