Final part - SAVE THE DOCTOR FROM WHAT ? Part III __________________________________________________ Certainly a doctor needs to be saved, but from what? * Lack of support staff namely nursing , cleaning , technicians etc . There is a big dearth of trained staff . Private sector works mostly with untrained staff , trained by us on job . Why not fight for that ? Why can not the govt start more paramedical training schools ? * Poor infrastructure namely buildings and equipments [ in working condition ] and furnitures in Govt set-up . That can be improved with little bit of willingness from govt side. * Poor education at UG as well as PG level due to Poorly educated teachers and again lack of infrastructure. * Admission for money , or capitation fees , donation . That simply makes poor investment sense , poor education too . * Push marketing by pharma sector , which leads to malpractice . * Cut practice , which is not so much of a secret . * From veering into malpractice by providing low interest loan , incentive on group practice and small town practice , public-private-partnership etc . Govt ca save doctors ........ * By making Govt service attractive pay , permanent jobs instead of contract basis , doing fewer transfers , and taking into account their kids education. * By making provision of PG training in the job , through the job and retaining a trained specialist . * By properly distributing trained PGs and GPs across the state best would be healthcare totally under govt , medical education totally under govt . * By making Healthcare of people a duty of state , and covering everyone under some sort of insurance which wd be incme slab dependent . * Stopping the so called foreign medical education ..........when they come back , a small percentage manages to pass MCI screening test . * By making DNB seats allocation corruption free . Many more points can be added to this list . At the same time Govts will sure increase the numbers of MBBS seats and PG seats too . Have heart . You can contribute Equally , or Probably more by remaining a generalist too ! Do not bother if you could not become a Surgeon or Internist . Venture to become a good Wholesome Package , a GOOD DOCTOR! ~ Rakeshkumar Singh PS - Rakesh Sir is an established Doctor.
