Final thoughts of my favorite movie of all time being made into a Broadway show: ROCKY Since the writer and producer of the original movie, Sylvester Stallone wrote and produced the show, they pulled out all of the stops. Top notch, quality musical theater. The score was a bit weak, but when then trumpets blasted out Gonna Fly Now, there wasnt a person in the audience without the chills. I didnt care for the guys who played Pauly or Mickey. Too many reasons to mention, but easy to overlook when Adrian, Apollo Creed and Rocky were SO STRONG, as was the ensemble. I would be remiss if I didnt mention Andy Karls portrayal of Rocky. He made the character his own. He was sincere and lovable. Great actor and singer. The last 15 minutes of the show blew my mind. Story wise, everyone knows what happens. I dont want to give anything away, but it was fascinating and I was on the edge of my seat. Im still on a natural high from those 15 minutes. I didnt think a masterpiece like Rocky could be brought to the Broadway stage, but I stood corrected. Since Sylvester Stallone was an integral part of getting the show up there, it was an absolute knock out. Hardee har har. Seriously, it was awesome. Thanks again to Kelley Faulkner Clements for getting me backstage! What a day.
