Finally finished inventory on all the boxes and had time to catch - TopicsExpress

Finally finished inventory on all the boxes and had time to catch up with daddy via FaceTime. Kids didnt get to go through their school boxes until then. Unfortunately, it was kinda late and I already knew what was going to happen. I was, in effort to make box day a family affair, about to wire my children! They get excited. Alexis doesnt get as many cool supplies any more, but she always geeks over the books they send. Bill was stoked to learn he had an entire science kit / his favorite subject. Taryn didnt seem too overwhelmed when I was showing her just how much more academically intense this year is in comparison. I.E. more writing for her a lot. She was excited for textbooks before now its mostly been little readers, paper readers, oral discussions, art etcShe even starts to learn cursive this year which is something all the kids will work on. Alexis can sign her name but that was the last year they did it in public school and I think she was in 4th grade when they taught her?! How do you just take away manuscript? And James whos been asking since he could talk when he got to do school. This is our first ever pre-k curriculum that was set. I find it very simple to teach for free.... However, things change and hes asked mostly the last 18 mths or so (all he ever recalls is me homeschooling, sleeping in the ergo while I crank out math problems on the chalkboard.) definitely worth the money in his excitement. All day he kept asking if his box was still here. Hes checked it several times since it arrived today. Even until recently I kept having to explain mom needs to review, plan, & organize. Good thing I got some printables ready for him for our unit studies... Still kinds sad I have to pass more cubicles for totes this current point. A lot to organize, together & separate. Actually thinking about rolling suit cases for this year. Not like we wont need them and dang those are some heavy boxes!!We are definitely going to have to take advantage of all this US History & traveling this year. Thats one way to map out a long drive with kids, right? Random stops, history tours or museums?! Reenactments? Think it would be fun to dress up and participate in a few of those too! Either way, the kids as usual were all excited to see their upcoming studies.
