Finally got around to filing my own personal taxes for 2013 (everyone elses come before mine) and finagled up a sizable refund but I had to paper file. Why? Because TurboTax doesnt allow the average taxpayer to include this Form. They state A tax professional must be consulted for your qualification to file this Form. However, aside from typing in my name and SSN into the form there was one box to check and one to write a total into. This is a prime example of how exemptions to taxable income are layered underneath the mainstream system. So what if I paper file and wait several weeks for a refund? If I chose to e-file and forgo the reduction to my taxable income that this Form has afforded me (all legitimately and in full compliance with the Tax Code) it wouldve reduced my refund by nearly $1.4K.
