Finally got released from the hospital last night, 14 staples in my lower abdomen and other things Id rather not mention, At least it is all temporary. I could have easily died had I come to the ER a day or even hours later. I lived. Unfortunately , I wont be enjoying the great Texas Microbrews ( or any beer for that matter) or that spicy as hell Asian food that I love for quite some time - otherwise things could get much worse. Spent my first full day at home in 11 days. At least they could have given me better painkiller scripts to take home. Hydrocodone and Valium doesnt help much when you have a six inch incision down your lower abdomen. But then again , I understand they just cant send me home with Dilaudid (which I would have never made it through the first few days without). For those who were wondering , I had Peritonitis and rupture of one of my internal organs. I ignored the symptoms for a long time , attributing them (severe abdominal pain , lack of appetite , nausea) to drinking too much, eating spicy foods/curry/ and any exotics stuff I could find at the Asian and Indian markets. Well here I am , my second day out of the Hospital , following a surgery I wasnt sure that I would survive. Here I am with a bunch of ugly and painful staples down lower my lower abdomen and a fragment of my sigmoid colon missing. I already sold the white Chevy Silverado that I wrecked on Press street in NOLA and Im buying a new truck tomorrow morning! .................................................... Old doctor walks into my hospital room: Whatca readin son? Me : Oh , its called Bad Boy From Rosebud : The Murderous Life of Kenneth Allen McDuff Old Doctor: Kenneth McDuff!......he ....he ...he was a bad guy. Me: Yep I wondered to myself what the old doc would have thought if he knew I was using a Christmas Card inside of an envelope from Elmer Wayne Henley as a bookmark. ......................................
