Financial Aid Update: As of yesterday morning, Friday, August 9th, the vast majority of the Federal Aid has been disbursed to students who were in the system at the time we converted to a new financial aid system and we’ve processed additional funds for previously unfunded students today. We are applying another software patch and we will clear up the remaining issues as quickly as we can. We will not stop until all Federal Aid is disbursed to the students and the system is running smoothly. We appreciate your patience as we work out the bugs in the new financial aid system. Once we get the conversion issues resolved, we expect to have a scalable financial aid system with significantly improved student service capabilities. To recap, in late June the American Public University System migrated to a new financial aid processing system. When we converted to the new system, the majority of the Federal Aid was processed correctly and we disbursed aid to students. However, there were some issues with the data conversion from the prior financial aid system vendor that resulted in some student records being rejected by the Department of Education. APUS staff and our software vendor have been working around the clock to analyze the software code, deploy fixes and resubmit the records to the Department of Education so we can obtain the funds to disburse Federal Aid to impacted students. The American Public University System takes pride in our history of providing great service to our students and we are very sorry that some students have experienced hardships because of the bugs that became evident when the system went live.
