Fire Marshals office: investigators eyeing improper disposal of smoking materials as possible cause of fatal fire at Summer Place Dec. 29. A 76-year-old woman, whose identity has not yet been released, died from burns sustained in the fire at the senior apartment complex. The fire was contained to one dwelling but some nearby areas sustained some smoke and water damage. The fire marshal confirms that the buildings sprinkler system was working properly and prevented the fire from spreading to other dwellings. More details as available.
