Firefighters have some advantages in the Black Forest area compared with the Waldo Canyon fire. First, the terrain is hilly but not steep. That means they can bring in bulldozers to cut firebreaks. Second, the civil engineers at Fort Carson have deployed four bulldozers to do just that. Third, the burn zone is inside the county (as opposed to being in semi-wilderness national forest) with many paved roads to provide access to hot spots.
