First Bamboo Global Summit 2014 concludes Dimapur: The first Bamboo Global Summit 2014 was held at Saigon, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on April 21 and 22. This event was held with the objective to provide great platform for bamboo trade and technology where leading growth firms, entrepreneurs, technocrats, and innovators meet the best ideas in the area of bamboo. According to the event website, the objective of the event is to promote the business of bamboo; to provide a commerce and e-commerce platform to support the introduction of all new bamboo products around the world to have access to large markets such as the USA & Europe. According to a press note a four-team member team comprising of Dr. Benjongliba Aier, Parliamentary Secretary (Agriculture) & Chairman, NSAMB, Dr. Longriniken, Advisor, Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency, Team Members Lipongshe Sangtam and Imkonglemba attended and participated in the Bamboo Global Summit 2014 at Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam from April 21 to 24, 2014. Topics on bamboo in Vietnam, China, Japan, Korea, Australia, Peru, Congo, Indonesia, India were delivered by the bamboo experts. The unique event was the culmination of the efforts to physically unite bamboo enthusiasts and professionals from all over the world to bring and to promote bamboo productions and trade globally being supported by the World Bamboo, South Asia Bamboo Foundation, INBAR, USAID, PRONAR, GRASSCO and other international bamboo organizations. An investment meet was also organized as a part of the summit to attract investment in future generation bamboo products, plantations, bio mass and other products. Policy makers, bamboo experts, and officials from the government bodies, UN, EU, Investors, Apex Chamber of Trade & Industry Associations, and Bamboo Industrial Groups from the South Asia, Europe, Africa and America attended the meet. The Team also visited the Bamboo Conservatory having an area of 50 hectares where 387 bamboo species are well conserved and other bamboo industrial units in Vietnam.
