First Day: Speak with new council-elect, set weekly Townhall - TopicsExpress

First Day: Speak with new council-elect, set weekly Townhall schedule, read all critical in-camera documents available pertaining to the new hotel, downtown development, environmental, and all Parks Recreation and Culture reports to council. First Week: Draft new motions for by-laws that came from first Townhall meeting, speak to Chinese hotel stakeholders (in their own language) to get their perspective of the project, meet with city staff to discuss upcoming changes, call to appoint a citizens shadow committee for council, speak with new SD68 Trustee-elects to discuss student representation on all city committees. First Month: Reduce powers of the Mayors office and put them in the hands of council, publish monthly report of past four Townhall meetings, motion to reduce Mayors salary to that of school board chair (surrender difference if motion fails), motion to determine councils salary by citizens- not council, appoint volunteers to officially scrutinize city council. First Year: 0% residential tax increase, 0% commercial tax increase, 0% industrial tax for industries that are carbon neutral (done by Green Grant)-- this means that profitable polluters will pay, produce a seniors handbook outlining services, parents handbook for all new parents at NRGH, and more funding for community policing with emphasis on safety for our kids and traffic enforcement. Ticketing will provide funds. First Term: Tax reductions on all levels through increasing the tax base, cutting waste, generating revenue through alternate means (by-law enforcement, private partnerships), and truly democratizing council by implanting the right for citizens to unelect their elected officials (using BC Recall legislation as a template). No second term, my kids will be in school and I need to focus on their academics.
